Product Introduction
CHAOEN Large Format Interior Wall Panel is an 8 mm aluminium honeycomb cladding board made for walls where the seam pattern is the design. Panels are produced up to 1500 x 4000 mm, so a full floor-to-ceiling lobby wall can be covered with two or three boards instead of a dozen, and the finished surface reads as one continuous plane. The panel is rigid enough to bond straight onto a flat substrate without a batten frame behind it, which keeps the whole build-up at around 10 mm and returns floor area to the room. Both skins and the core are aluminium, so the board does not swell, warp or delaminate, carries no formaldehyde and is A2 non-combustible - the practical reasons it gets specified over MDF-backed decorative board in hotels and public interiors.
Detailed Description
Big panels, few seams. At up to 1500 x 4000 mm one board covers most of a floor-to-ceiling wall. A lobby feature wall that would need ten narrow boards is done with two or three, and the seams that remain can be set out deliberately rather than falling wherever the board width lands.
Bonds straight to the wall. The honeycomb board is rigid and dimensionally stable, so on a flat, dry substrate it is bonded directly with adhesive. There is no batten frame and no backing board, so the finished build-up is around 10 mm instead of 50 mm or more.
Floor area stays in the room. On a long corridor or a small hotel room, a 40 mm saving on each wall is real usable area. This is the argument that wins the specification on refurbishment projects where every millimetre of the plan is already committed.
Light enough to handle at full size. At about 4.8 kg per square metre a large board is carried and offered up by two installers without lifting equipment, which is what makes oversize panels practical on site rather than just impressive on paper.
Nothing in the panel to swell. The face skins and the core are aluminium, so there is no timber or MDF substrate to absorb moisture. Behind a reception desk, in a bathroom lobby or in a humid climate the panel stays flat and the joints stay tight.
Non-combustible and zero formaldehyde. The panel is A2 class with no formaldehyde emission. In hotels, corridors and public interiors, where large continuous wall areas come under the closest fire scrutiny, this is usually the first question the specifier asks.
Wipe-clean surface for high-traffic walls. The wear resistant top layer takes routine cleaning in lobbies, corridors and lift lobbies without the finish burnishing where trolleys and luggage brush past.
Machined to your drawings. Panels are cut, drilled, mitre folded and CNC grooved before shipping, so external corners are folded rather than butted and socket and switch cut-outs arrive ready. Send the elevations and we will produce a panel schedule against them.
FAQ
Q1: What is the largest panel you can make?
A1: 1500 x 4000 mm. Standard stock size is 1220 x 2440 mm. Oversize panels are made to order - send your wall elevations and we will work out the most economical panel split for the fewest seams.
Q2: Can it really be glued straight to the wall without battens?
A2: Yes, provided the substrate is flat, dry and sound. The honeycomb board is rigid enough not to telegraph minor texture, but it will follow a genuinely uneven wall. Where the substrate is out of tolerance we supply a clip fixing system on slim furring instead.
Q3: How thick is the finished wall build-up?
A3: Around 10 mm with direct bonding - the 8 mm panel plus the adhesive layer. A framed system with battens and a backing board is typically 50 mm or more, so direct bonding returns roughly 40 mm per wall to the room.
Q4: How are the joints between panels finished?
A4: Three options: a slim aluminium seam profile, a colour matched silicone joint, or a tight butt joint where the panels are edge trimmed to suit. Tell us the look you want and we supply the matching profile with the panels.
Q5: Can you match a specific wood grain or colour?
A5: Yes. Wood grain, stone grain, solid colour and metallic finishes are available, with RAL, Pantone and NCS matching and custom wood grain reproduction. Send a physical sample or the code and we will produce a match sample before production.
Q6: How do you handle external corners?
A6: The panel is mitre folded at 45 degrees so the corner is formed from a single continuous face with no visible joint line. Corner details are produced in the factory to your drawings.
Q7: Is it suitable for bathrooms and humid areas?
A7: Yes for wall lining in bathroom lobbies and humid interiors, because the panel is all aluminium and does not absorb moisture. For direct wet areas inside a shower enclosure, tell us the condition and we will confirm the fixing and jointing detail.
Q8: What is the fire rating?
A8: A2 class non-combustible with zero formaldehyde emission. Certification documents are supplied with the shipment. If your project requires testing of the complete wall assembly rather than the panel, tell us the standard and we will confirm what can be provided.
Q9: Can the panels be cut on site?
A9: They can, but we recommend against it. Panels are cut, drilled and grooved in the factory to your drawings so that cut edges are properly finished and site work is limited to fixing. Send elevations with outlet positions at order.
Q10: What is the MOQ and lead time?
A10: 500 square meters per colour or finish. Lead time is confirmed at order depending on panel sizes, finishes and machining. Free samples are supplied before order.
