CHAOEN CFRT PP Honeycomb Sandwich Panel is an all-thermoplastic composite board built from two CFRT skins - continuous glass fiber reinforced polypropylene sheets with multi-layer 0/90 degree cross-ply layup - fused onto a square-cell polypropylene honeycomb core. The whole panel is bonded by heat and pressure rather than adhesive, so skins and core melt into one homogeneous polypropylene structure. There is no glue line to fail, no wood fiber to absorb water and no aluminum layer to corrode, which is why the panel keeps performing in vibrating, humid and temperature-cycling environments where conventional adhesive-laminated honeycomb boards start to delaminate.
Detailed Description
Glue-Free Thermal Fusion - No Delamination
Conventional honeycomb sandwich boards rely on an adhesive layer between skin and core, and that glue line is almost always the first thing to fail under long-term vibration or repeated hot-cold cycling. Our skins and PP honeycomb core are melted together under heat and pressure into a single polypropylene body. With no adhesive interface, there is nothing to peel, creep or separate - a decisive advantage for truck bodies, RVs and shelters that spend their service life vibrating.
Lightweight with High Specific Strength
At equal stiffness the panel is 30-40% lighter than aluminum honeycomb panel, and far lighter than WPC or FRP boards. For vehicle builders every kilogram removed from the body converts directly into payload capacity and fuel saving. The continuous fiber skins also make the panel ductile rather than brittle: a hard impact may dent the surface but will not shatter it or punch straight through, which is how short-fiber PP sheets and rigid FRP typically fail.
All-PP System - Waterproof, Corrosion-Free, Recyclable
Because every component is polypropylene, the panel does not absorb water, does not swell after immersion, and resists salt spray, grease, acids and alkalis. It works continuously from -40 C to +80 C without the condensation corrosion that attacks aluminum cores or the surface heat build-up of metal panels. At end of life the entire board can be ground and recycled, and it emits no formaldehyde with very low VOC. Flame-retardant, anti-UV and anti-static grades can be produced on request.
Fabrication-Friendly and Well Insulated
The panel can be CNC cut, drilled, riveted, screwed, thermally welded or bonded, and the surface can be finished with PET decorative film, non-woven fabric or an anti-slip texture to suit the application. Large-format sheets keep joints to a minimum on big interior surfaces. The PP honeycomb core also conducts far less heat than a metal core, giving noticeably better thermal and acoustic insulation in insulated box bodies and mobile cabins.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What exactly is CFRT and how do I know I am getting the real thing?
A1: CFRT means Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastic: continuous long glass fibers laid in multiple 0/90 degree plies inside a polypropylene matrix. Some suppliers sell short-fiber PP sheet as CFRT at a much lower price, and its strength and impact resistance are far weaker. Our skins use genuine continuous fiber cross-ply layup, and test reports are available on request.
Q2: How is this different from an adhesive-laminated honeycomb panel?
A2: The skins and core here are fused thermally, so the panel is one continuous polypropylene structure with no glue line. Adhesive-bonded panels can delaminate under vibration, humidity or hot-cold cycling; this construction removes that failure mode entirely.
Q3: How much lighter is it than aluminum honeycomb panel?
A3: At equal stiffness it is 30-40% lighter. For truck and trailer builders this converts directly into extra payload and lower fuel consumption over the vehicle's life.
Q4: What is the temperature range?
A4: Continuous service from -40 C to +80 C. It is not suitable for sustained temperatures above that range, as prolonged over-temperature will cause thermoplastic creep. For hot-side applications please tell us the working temperature so we can advise.
Q5: Is it waterproof and can it be used in refrigerated bodies?
A5: Yes. The all-PP construction does not absorb water and does not swell, and it resists salt spray and cleaning chemicals. It is widely used for dry van and refrigerated truck bodies, where the low thermal conductivity of the PP honeycomb core also helps insulation performance.
Q6: Is it fire rated?
A6: The standard grade is not a fire-rated product. A flame-retardant modified grade is available on request - please specify the standard you must meet and we will confirm feasibility and provide the corresponding test report.
Q7: How is it processed and installed?
A7: The panel can be CNC cut, drilled, riveted, screw-fixed, thermally welded or adhesive bonded, so it fits existing vehicle and cabin assembly processes. Note that panel stiffness depends on thickness and honeycomb density, so for large unsupported spans please allow for framing rather than copying an aluminum panel design directly.
Q8: What is the MOQ and can I get samples?
