Product Overview

The CHAOEN All-Aluminum Welded Cabinet Board is the highest-grade furniture panel in our portfolio. Aluminum face sheets (0.8–1.5 mm) are permanently joined to a solid aluminum perimeter frame (6063-T5 / 6061-T6) using TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, creating a monolithic metal panel with a fully seamless, invisible edge. Inside, an aluminum honeycomb core provides structural rigidity while keeping the panel lightweight. After welding, the edges are ground, brushed or polished to render the weld line completely invisible - the panel appears as a single solid aluminum slab. This seamless construction eliminates all joints, screws, and glue lines at the edges, delivering absolute waterproof integrity and a flawless luxury aesthetic. Preferred for superyacht interiors, luxury kitchen cabinetry, commercial laboratory casework, and high-end architectural millwork.

Key Features

Invisible Seamless Edge Post-weld grinding, brushing, and polishing completely eliminates the weld line. The panel appears as a single solid aluminum slab with no visible joints or fasteners - the ultimate expression of minimalist luxury design.

Absolute Waterproof Integrity The welded edge frame forms a continuous metal seal around the entire panel perimeter. No adhesive bond lines that can fail over time. The panel is as watertight as the base aluminum alloy itself.

Maximum Structural Strength The welded edge frame forms a rigid perimeter box that dramatically increases torsional and racking resistance - far exceeding adhesive-only or mechanically fastened panels.

Superior Screw Holding The solid aluminum edge frame (not honeycomb core) provides strong, repeatable thread engagement for hinge screws, drawer slides, and connectors. No special threaded inserts required - standard wood screws hold securely.

No Adhesive Aging Zero organic materials at the edge - no risk of delamination from heat, humidity, UV exposure, or chemical attack over decades of service.

Hygiene-Compliant Surface No crevices, seams, or material junctions at edges - meets the most stringent food-safety and healthcare surface standards. Fully sterilizable.

Luxury Aesthetic Ideal for handleless, push-to-open cabinet systems where the edge is a visible design element. The seamless edge elevates the panel from industrial component to architectural artwork.

100% Recyclable The entire panel - face sheets, honeycomb core, and welded edge frame - is 100% aluminum. Fully recyclable at end of life without loss of material quality.

Manufacturing Process

1. Material Preparation

Aluminum face sheets (3003/5052/5083) are cut to size and surface-prepared. Solid aluminum edge frames are precision-machined from 6063-T5 or 6061-T6 extrusions to the exact panel dimensions. Honeycomb core blocks are expanded from precision-slit foil.

2. Core Bonding & Frame Assembly

The honeycomb core is bonded to the back face sheet with high-temperature structural adhesive inside the solid aluminum perimeter frame. The frame is precisely positioned and temporarily tack-welded at corners to form a rigid assembly jig.

3. Top Sheet Positioning & TIG Welding

The top face sheet is positioned over the assembly. A skilled TIG welder runs a continuous weld bead around the entire perimeter, fusing the face sheet edge to the solid aluminum frame. 4043 or 5356 filler rod ensures metallurgical compatibility. For 0.8 mm thin skins, pulsed TIG or laser welding is used to prevent burn-through.

4. Post-Weld Grinding

The protruding weld bead is carefully ground flush with a progression of abrasive belts (60 → 120 → 240 grit) until the weld line is level with the surrounding surface. Coolant is used to prevent heat distortion of the panel.

5. Brushing / Polishing

The ground edge is brushed with a linear satin finish (180–320 grit) or progressively polished with diamond compounds to a mirror finish (Ra ≤ 0.02 μm). The goal is to render the weld line completely invisible - indistinguishable from the face sheet.

6. Surface Finishing

The entire panel - face sheets and edge frame together - receives the final surface treatment: powder coating, anodizing, PVDF coating, or brushing/clear coat. Because the edge surface is aluminum (not filler or adhesive), the coating bonds uniformly across the entire panel surface.

7. QC & Packaging

Each panel is inspected for edge seam visibility, surface finish uniformity, dimensional accuracy, and flatness. Panels are wrapped in 60 μm low-tack PE film, stacked with EPE foam interleaving, and packed in reinforced plywood crates for shipment.

Q: 3. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: The MOQ for welded cabinet boards is typically 50–100 sheets, reflecting the labor-intensive welding and post-weld finishing process. Custom sizes, special alloys, or premium finishes (mirror polish, custom anodizing) may require 100–150 sheets. Trial orders of 10–20 sheets can be arranged for sampling, though unit pricing will be higher due to the fixed setup cost per production batch. The MOQ is driven by the welding jig preparation, surface treatment line minimums, and post-weld finishing workflow. Please provide your desired dimensions, alloy preference, edge detail, and surface finish for an accurate quotation.

Q: 4. Where are welded cabinet boards used?

A: Premium applications:
• Luxury residential kitchens: handleless, seamless cabinet doors and drawer fronts - no visible fasteners

Q: 5. What are the key advantages of welded construction?

A: ① Invisible edges: post-weld grinding and finishing eliminates the joint line entirely - the panel appears as a single solid aluminum slab
② Absolute waterproof integrity: no adhesive bond line that can fail over time; welded seams are as watertight as the base metal itself
③ Maximum structural strength: the welded edge frame forms a rigid perimeter that dramatically increases torsional and racking resistance compared to adhesive-only panels
④ No adhesive aging: zero organic materials at the edge - no risk of delamination from heat, humidity, UV, or chemical exposure over decades
⑤ Superior screw holding: the solid aluminum edge frame (not honeycomb core) provides strong thread engagement for hinge screws, drawer slides, and connectors - no special inserts required
⑥ Seamless aesthetic: ideal for handleless push-to-open cabinet systems where the edge is a visible design element
⑦ Hygiene compliance: no crevices, seams, or material junctions at edges - meets the most stringent food-safety and healthcare surface standards
⑧ Thermal conductivity: the continuous metal edge conducts heat, allowing the entire panel to be used as a radiant surface in specialized applications

Q: 6. What surface finishes are available for welded panels?

A: Surface finishing is applied after welding and grinding for a uniform appearance across the entire panel including edges:
• Powder coating: matte, satin, or textured; 300+ RAL colors; excellent scratch and chemical resistance - most popular for residential and commercial cabinets
• Anodizing: natural, champagne, bronze, or black; hard-anodized option (60+ micron thickness) for heavy-duty lab and marine applications; produces a deep metallic luster unique to aluminum
• Brushed finish: linear satin grain (180–320 grit) with clear anodized or lacquer seal - popular for contemporary European kitchen aesthetics
• Mirror polish: high-reflectivity surface achieved through progressive polishing (up to 0.02μm Ra) - for ultra-luxury retail and yacht interiors
• PVDF coating: premium weather-resistant finish for outdoor kitchen and exterior architectural applications
• Heat-transfer wood-grain: realistic timber patterns applied to aluminum surface - combines wood aesthetic with aluminum performance
• PET film: high-gloss or super-matte anti-fingerprint lamination for modern handleless kitchens
• Custom etching/engraving: logo, pattern, or artwork chemically etched or laser-engraved into the surface

Q: 7. Is the welded cabinet board fire-resistant?

A: Yes. Constructed entirely from aluminum (skins, honeycomb core, and welded edge frame), the panel is 100% metal and rated Class A non-combustible (GB 8624) / Class A1 (EN 13501-1). It will not burn, melt through, produce flaming droplets, or release toxic smoke. This fire performance significantly exceeds that of wood, MDF, plywood, and even many 'fire-rated' composite panels. For marine applications, the panel meets IMO FTP Code requirements (SOLAS) when using appropriate surface coatings. Independent fire test certificates are available upon request.

Q: 8. What is the typical production lead time?

A: • Standard stock items (white/grey powder coat, 18mm, 1220×2440mm): 10–15 working days
• Custom size, stock finish: 15–20 working days
• Custom color or finish (powder coat / anodizing): 20–25 working days
• Premium finishes (mirror polish, custom anodizing): 25–35 working days
• Large project orders: production schedule confirmed upon PO review; phased delivery available
Note: The welding, grinding, and polishing processes add 5–10 working days compared to non-welded cabinet boards. This is necessary to achieve the seamless edge quality. Rush orders for smaller quantities may be possible at an expediting surcharge. We recommend placing orders 6–8 weeks before required on-site delivery for large projects.

Q: 9. How are welded cabinet boards packaged and shipped?

A: Packaging: Premium protective protocol due to the high-value finish:
• Each panel is wrapped in 60μm low-tack PE protective film (no adhesive residue upon removal)
• Panels are separated by 5mm EPE foam sheets and stacked face-to-face
• The stack is enclosed with 5mm MDF cover boards top and bottom, then wrapped in waterproof VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) paper for export shipments
• Crating: reinforced plywood crate with internal foam padding at all contact points; panels are secured with non-abrasive nylon straps (never steel bands on finished edges)
Shipping:
• Domestic: air-ride suspension trucking; white-glove inside delivery available for premium projects
• International: FCL 20GP/40HQ only (LCL not recommended due to handling risk on premium finishes); CIF/FOB standard; DDP for select markets
• Sample shipping: plywood-boxed sample with a welded edge demo piece; DHL/FedEx for international
Every shipment includes a QC inspection report, humidity indicator, and tilt/shock indicators.

Q: 10. How are welded cabinet boards fabricated into finished cabinets?

A: Fabrication approach:
Cutting to size:
• Use a CNC router or panel saw with a TCT triple-chip blade (100 teeth for 300mm blade)
• Cut from the face side down to minimize burr on the visible surface
• Cutting speed: 2,500–3,500 RPM for 18mm panels - slower than wood to manage heat
• Coolant mist recommended for thick panels (>20mm) to avoid thermal distortion
Edge considerations:
• The welded frame edge is already finished - do not apply edge banding; it would degrade the seamless look
• For field-cut edges (non-factory edges), apply a matching aluminum trim profile or touch-up paint
Drilling & hardware:
• Hinge cups: drill with a 35mm Forstner bit at 1,500–2,000 RPM using a drill press; use cutting oil for clean holes
• Shelf pin holes: 5mm system holes work perfectly; the solid edge frame holds shelf pins securely
• Screws: self-tapping stainless steel screws (A2/A4) directly into the solid edge frame - no plastic inserts needed
• Heavy hardware (lift systems, soft-close mechanisms): pre-drill and tap M4/M5 threads into the edge frame
Assembly:
• Cabinet box: use aluminum corner brackets with machine screws into the edge frame - the solid frame provides strong, repeatable connections
• Alternatively, cam-lock (Minifix) connectors work well when the cam housing sits in the face sheet and the bolt threads into the edge frame
Finishing care:
• Handle with clean cotton gloves during assembly to prevent fingerprints on premium finishes
• Use felt pads on all jig and clamp contact surfaces
• Clean finished cabinets with pH-neutral aluminum cleaner and microfiber cloth
We provide complete fabrication specifications, recommended tooling lists, and remote technical consultation. On-site training for cabinet makers is available for large-volume partnerships.
