Product Overview

The CHAOEN Sintered Stone Aluminum Honeycomb Panel is a premium architectural composite that bonds a thin slab of sintered stone (ultra-thin porcelain slab, 3–6 mm) to an aluminum honeycomb core with an aluminum back sheet. Sintered stone is an engineered surface material made from natural minerals (clay, feldspar, silica, and mineral pigments) compacted under extreme pressure (>15,000 tons) and fired at >1,200°C - replicating the natural stone formation process. The resulting surface has: zero porosity (<0.05% water absorption), Mohs hardness 6–7 (harder than granite), and exceptional resistance to heat (300°C direct contact), stains, scratches, and UV radiation. By bonding this thin but brittle premium surface to an aluminum honeycomb core, we eliminate fragility while reducing weight by 50–70% vs. solid 20 mm sintered stone slab. The panel combines authentic stone aesthetics - marble, granite, concrete, travertine, and onyx patterns with through-body veining - with the structural performance of aluminum honeycomb. The ultimate solution for luxury architectural cladding, high-end furniture, and premium commercial interiors.

Key Features

50–70% Weight Reduction vs Solid Stone 6 mm sintered stone + 14 mm honeycomb ~14 kg/m² vs. 20 mm solid stone ~48–55 kg/m². Transformative for facades (lighter structure), furniture (movable tables), and transport (lower freight cost).

Authentic Stone Aesthetics Through-body veining - not a surface print. Edge profiling reveals the stone pattern on edges. Marble (Calacatta, Carrara, Statuario, Emperador, Nero Marquina), granite, concrete, travertine, and onyx patterns.

Zero Porosity · No Sealing Required <0.05% water absorption. Natural marble and limestone are inherently porous and require regular sealing. Spilled wine, coffee, or oil will not stain sintered stone. Maintenance-free.

Mohs 6–7 Hardness · Scratch-Resistant Harder than granite (~6 Mohs) and far harder than marble (~3 Mohs). Resists knife scratches, abrasion, and daily wear in high-use environments.

300°C Heat Resistance Hot pots and pans can be placed directly on the surface without scorching, cracking, or discoloration. Engineered quartz degrades above ~150°C due to resin binder breakdown.

UV-Stable · Never Fades Inorganic mineral pigments throughout the body. Unlike engineered quartz (organic resin binders that yellow under UV), sintered stone maintains color permanently, even in direct sunlight.

Chemical-Resistant Unaffected by common household and commercial chemicals (citric acid, vinegar, bleach, solvents) that etch and stain natural marble and limestone.

Class A Fire-Safe Sintered stone is fired at >1,200°C and is non-combustible. Aluminum core is Class A1. The minimal epoxy bonding layer maintains overall Class A2-s1,d0 (EN 13501-1).

Sintered Stone Aluminum Honeycomb Panel FAQ

Q: 1. What is a sintered stone aluminum honeycomb panel?

A: A sintered stone aluminum honeycomb panel is a premium architectural composite that bonds a thin slab of sintered stone (also known as ultra-thin porcelain slab, compact sintered stone, or ceramic stone - typically 3–6mm thick) to an aluminum honeycomb core with an aluminum back sheet. Sintered stone is an engineered surface material made from natural minerals (clay, feldspar, silica, and mineral pigments) compacted under extreme pressure (>15,000 tons) and fired at temperatures exceeding 1,200°C, mimicking the natural stone formation process in an accelerated industrial cycle. The resulting material has zero porosity, high hardness (7 on Mohs scale), and exceptional resistance to heat, stains, scratches, and UV radiation. By bonding this premium but thin and brittle surface to an aluminum honeycomb core, we eliminate the fragility of thin sintered stone while creating a panel that is: 50–70% lighter than solid sintered stone slab (20mm), available in much larger formats (up to 1600×3200mm), and fully flat without warping. The panel combines the aesthetic perfection of sintered stone (marble, granite, concrete, travertine, and onyx patterns with through-body veining) with the structural performance of aluminum honeycomb. It is the ultimate solution for luxury architectural cladding, high-end furniture, and premium commercial interiors.

Q: 2. What are the standard specifications?

A: Common specifications:
• Total panel thickness: 10mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 20mm, 25mm (sintered stone thickness + honeycomb core + back sheet)
• Sintered stone face thickness: 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm (6mm is most common for wall cladding; 3–4mm for furniture)
• Sintered stone slab size: 1600×3200mm, 1200×2400mm, 1200×2700mm, 1200×3000mm
• Aluminum honeycomb core: cell size 6mm, 8mm, 10mm; foil thickness 0.04–0.08mm; density 60–80 kg/m³
• Back sheet: 0.5–1.0mm aluminum (painted or mill finish)

- Heat resistance: withstands direct contact up to 300°C without scorching, cracking, or discoloration
- UV resistance: no fading or yellowing (inorganic pigments throughout the body)
- Flexural strength: 45–60 MPa (thin slab alone); significantly enhanced by honeycomb backing
• Weight: ~11–18 kg/m² (6mm stone + 14mm honeycomb) vs. ~48–55 kg/m² for 20mm solid sintered stone
• Surface finishes: polished (high-gloss), honed (matte/satin), textured (leather, concrete, linear grain), structured (3D relief)

Q: 3. What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: Standard sintered stone patterns and sizes: MOQ is 30–80 square meters per pattern/thickness combination. Premium or limited-edition sintered stone designs may require 50–100 m². Custom panel sizes or cut-to-size components (e.g., specific door or tabletop dimensions): MOQ is 50–100 m². Small trial orders (10–20 m²) can be accommodated at sample pricing. The MOQ is driven by the sintered stone slab procurement (full slabs 1600×3200mm must be purchased and processed), the bonding line setup, and the CNC cutting/edge profiling for custom components. Please specify the sintered stone brand and pattern reference, panel thickness, and total quantity for a precise quotation. Physical stone samples (100×100mm or 150×150mm) are available for pattern and finish approval.

Q: 4. Where are sintered stone aluminum honeycomb panels used?

A: Premium applications where natural stone aesthetics, extreme durability, and lightweight construction are all required:
• Architectural facades and cladding:
- Ventilated facade systems for high-rise buildings - the 70% weight reduction vs. solid stone dramatically reduces structural load and installation cost
- Building entrance portals, column cladding, and feature walls - marble and granite aesthetics without the weight
- Soffit and canopy linings - fully weatherproof, zero water absorption prevents freeze-thaw damage
• Luxury retail and hospitality:
- Feature walls in hotel lobbies, restaurant interiors, and flagship stores - large-format slabs (1600×3200mm) with minimal visible joints

Q: 5. What are the advantages over solid stone and other stone-look materials?

A: Compared to solid natural stone (marble, granite, quartzite):
① Weight: 50–70% lighter - 6mm sintered stone + 14mm honeycomb ~14 kg/m² vs. 20mm marble ~54 kg/m². This is transformative for facades (lighter structure, faster installation), furniture (movable tables), and transport (lower freight cost).
② Consistency: natural stone has unpredictable veining, color variation, and inclusions (fissures, pitting); sintered stone is engineered for controlled aesthetics with consistent pattern and color across the entire project.
③ Zero porosity: sintered stone has <0.05% water absorption - marble and limestone are inherently porous and require regular sealing; spilled wine, coffee, or oil will not stain sintered stone.
④ Hardness & scratch resistance: sintered stone (6–7 Mohs) is harder than granite (~6 Mohs) and far harder than marble (~3 Mohs); it resists knife scratches and abrasion.
⑤ Chemical resistance: unaffected by common household and commercial chemicals (citric acid, vinegar, bleach, solvents) that etch marble and limestone.
⑥ No sealing required: natural stone requires periodic sealing (every 6–12 months) to maintain stain resistance - sintered stone is maintenance-free.
⑦ UV stability: natural stone does not fade, but many "engineered quartz" countertops use organic resins that yellow under UV exposure; sintered stone uses inorganic pigments throughout the body and will never fade.
⑧ Larger formats: solid stone slabs are limited by quarry block size and transport weight; sintered stone slabs up to 1600×3200mm with honeycomb backing push the format limit further.
Compared to engineered quartz:
① Heat resistance: 300°C vs. ~150°C for quartz (the resin binder in quartz degrades at higher temperatures) - hot pots and pans can be placed directly on sintered stone
② UV resistance: quartz yellows under prolonged UV exposure; sintered stone is UV-stable
③ Surface hardness: similar, but sintered stone's through-body color means chips and edge impacts are less visible

Q: Compared to HPL or laminate stone-look panels:

A: ① Authenticity: real stone texture, temperature (cool to touch), and weight; HPL is a photograph printed on paper
② Heat resistance: direct hot object contact vs. 180°C max for HPL
③ Scratch resistance: Mohs 6–7 vs. soft polymer surface; knives will not scratch sintered stone
④ Lifespan: sintered stone is effectively permanent; HPL surfaces wear and require replacement after 10–20 years

Q: 6. What sintered stone patterns and finishes are available?

A: Our panels can be faced with sintered stone from leading global manufacturers. Pattern categories include:
Marble-inspired patterns:
• Calacatta: white background with bold grey/gold veining - classic Italian luxury
• Carrara: soft grey veining on white background - subtle, elegant, timeless
• Statuario: pure white with dramatic dark grey veining - the most prestigious marble look
• Emperador: rich brown with lighter veining - warm, traditional
• Nero Marquina: deep black with white veining - dramatic contrast
• Arabescato: intricate grey veining on white - complex, artistic
Granite-inspired patterns:
• Black granite: deep black with subtle crystal fleck - monolithic, modern
• Grey granite: medium grey with consistent grain - versatile, understated
• White granite: light grey-white with speckled pattern - bright, clean
Concrete / industrial:
• Micro-cement: smooth, uniform grey - industrial-chic, minimalist
• Oxidized metal / Corten: rusted steel appearance - bold, architectural
• Travertine: cross-cut or vein-cut travertine pattern with filled pores - warm, textured
Onyx-inspired (translucent-look):
• Honey onyx: warm golden with wavy banding - luxurious, can be backlit for dramatic effect
• White onyx: milky white with subtle grey bands - ethereal, elegant
Solid colors:
• Pure white, matt white, warm white
• Pure black, anthracite, charcoal grey
• Greige, taupe, sand, cement grey
• Navy blue, forest green, terracotta (designer colors)
Surface finishes:
• Polished (high-gloss): mirror-like reflectivity, enhances veining visibility - most popular for feature walls and countertops
• Honed (matte/satin): soft, natural stone feel; hides fingerprints and water spots - preferred for high-use horizontal surfaces
• Leather / textured: subtle pebbled texture; tactile, hides scratches, slip-resistant - bathroom floors and shower walls
• River-washed / flamed: rough, natural stone texture - exterior facades and paving
Note: Because sintered stone veining is through-body (not just a surface print), edge profiling reveals the stone pattern on edges, enhancing the authentic stone appearance. We can provide a sample kit with your selected patterns and finishes for in-person evaluation.

Q: 7. Is the sintered stone honeycomb panel fire-resistant?

A: Yes, with an exceptional fire performance profile. The sintered stone itself is fired at >1,200°C and is completely non-combustible (Class A1 per EN 13501-1). The aluminum honeycomb core and aluminum back sheet are also non-combustible (Class A1). The only combustible component is the epoxy adhesive bonding layer (typically 0.1–0.3mm thick).
Overall panel fire rating:
• GB 8624: Class A (non-combustible) or Class A2
• EN 13501-1: Class A2-s1,d0 (the minimal epoxy layer prevents full A1 in most configurations)
• ASTM E84: Flame Spread Index <25, Smoke Developed Index <50 (Class A)
For ventilated facade applications: the panel meets the most stringent high-rise building fire codes worldwide. Unlike aluminum composite panels with PE cores, there is no combustible core material. Unlike solid aluminum panels, the sintered stone face provides an additional thermal barrier. The panel will not burn, produce flaming droplets, or contribute to fire spread.
Key fire-safety advantages:
• Zero smoke toxicity: all materials (stone, aluminum, epoxy) produce minimal smoke and no halogenated gases
• Thermal barrier: the 3–6mm stone face provides a heat shield for the aluminum core, delaying temperature rise in the core
• Fire test reports per GB 8624, EN 13501-1, ASTM E84, and BS 476 available for our standard configurations

Q: 8. What is the typical production lead time?

A: • Stock sintered stone patterns (popular marble/granite/concrete), standard sizes: 10–18 working days
• Stock pattern, custom panel size or cut-to-size components: 15–22 working days
• Premium or limited-edition patterns requiring slab procurement: 20–30 working days (includes stone slab lead time of 7–15 days from the sintered stone manufacturer)
• Custom edge profiling (mitered, bullnose, ogee, waterfall): add 5–7 working days to the above
• Cutouts for sinks, hobs, and fixtures (for countertop orders): add 3–5 working days (requires template or dimensional drawing)
• Large project orders: schedule confirmed upon PO review; phased delivery available
Key milestones:
• Stone pattern and finish sample approval: 5–7 days (we ship physical stone samples for your review)
• Shop drawings approval (for custom-sized components): 3–5 days
• First-article inspection (for orders of 30+ panels or 10+ custom components): 3–5 days
Important: Sintered stone patterns are produced in batches from natural raw materials. While color consistency is excellent, slight variations between production batches are inherent to the material. For projects requiring perfect batch consistency, we recommend ordering all panels from a single production run. We will confirm the sintered stone slab batch availability at the quotation stage.

Q: 9. How are sintered stone honeycomb panels packaged and shipped?

A: Packaging: The sintered stone face is hard but brittle against point impacts - packaging focuses on distributing impact forces and preventing edge chipping:
• Sintered stone face protected with 60μm PE protective film across the entire surface
• Polished faces receive an additional layer of 2mm EPE foam sheet over the PE film for impact cushioning
• Panels are NEVER stacked stone-face-to-stone-face - always stone-face-to-back or stone-face-to-stone-face with rigid foam interleaving
• For flat transport: each panel separated by 5mm rigid EPE foam sheets; stack enclosed with 8–12mm plywood cover boards top and bottom
• A-frame transport (for large quantities): panels loaded into purpose-built A-frame steel stillages with padded contact points; panels separated by 10mm foam spacers
• All edges protected with heavy-duty cardboard angle guards and plastic edge protectors
• Entire package wrapped in waterproof PE membrane
Special handling:
• Fragile / handle with care labeling on all sides
• Tilt and shock indicators on every crate
• For countertop components with sink/hob cutouts: the cutout corners are stress concentration points; additional foam inserts are placed in the cutouts to support the edges during transport
Shipping:
• Domestic: dedicated trucking with air-ride suspension; white-glove inside delivery available
• International: FCL 20GP/40HQ sea freight; CIF/FOB standard; DDP for select markets
- Solid stone is expensive to ship due to weight; the honeycomb-backed panel reduces freight cost by 50–70% vs. solid stone
• Sample shipping: 150×150mm or 300×300mm stone face samples via DHL/FedEx (small and robust); full panel samples (600×600mm) in plywood crate via sea freight
Receiving and handling:
• Inspect all panels for edge chipping upon receipt; photograph and note any damage on the delivery receipt
• Store panels flat in a clean, dry, covered area; if vertical storage is necessary, use A-frame racks with padded contact surfaces
• Lift panels with suction cups (2–4 cups depending on panel size) - this is the safest handling method for stone-faced panels
• Two-person lift minimum for panels >1 m²; four-person lift for panels >3 m²

Q: 10. How are sintered stone honeycomb panels fabricated and installed?

A: Fabrication requires specialist stone-working tools for the sintered stone face, while the honeycomb backing uses metalworking tools:
Cutting:
• CNC bridge saw or waterjet cutter is the preferred method for precision cutting of sintered stone-faced panels
- Bridge saw: diamond blade designed for ultra-thin porcelain slabs; continuous rim, 200–300mm diameter; cutting speed 1–2 m/min; water-cooled
- Waterjet: for complex shapes, internal cutouts (sinks, hobs), and curved profiles; no heat-affected zone, no micro-cracking
• Angle grinder with diamond blade: for small adjustments and site cuts; score from the stone face side
Edge profiling:
• CNC stone router with diamond profiling tools for mitered (45°), bullnose, ogee, bevel, and waterfall edges
• The aluminum honeycomb backing at the edge should be recessed 2–3mm from the stone edge and filled with color-matched epoxy filler for a solid stone appearance
• Edge profiles are polished through a progression of diamond pads (50→100→200→400→800→1500→3000 grit) to match the face finish
Drilling and cutouts:
• Diamond core drill bits (water-cooled) for circular holes (faucets, soap dispensers)
• CNC or waterjet for rectangular cutouts (sinks, hobs); corner radius minimum 5mm to avoid stress cracking
• After drilling/cutting, apply a penetrating sealer to the cut stone edges to prevent moisture wicking (even though sintered stone has near-zero absorption, edge sealing is best practice)
Installation methods:
Wall cladding:
• Structural adhesive: apply two-component epoxy or MS polymer adhesive in vertical beads on the substrate; press panel into position; use temporary support brackets until the adhesive cures (24–48 hours for epoxy)
• Mechanical kerf / undercut anchor system: stone anchoring system with stainless steel brackets inserted into kerf cuts in the stone edge - for ventilated facades and overhead applications
• Z-clip or French cleat system: aluminum mounting rails with interlocking profiles; the aluminum back sheet receives the clips with structural adhesive or mechanical fasteners
Countertop installation:
• The honeycomb backing provides a flat, stable base that sits directly on cabinet carcasses
• Apply a continuous bead of silicone or MS polymer adhesive to the top edge of the cabinet carcass
• Lower the countertop into position; align with cabinets; allow adhesive to cure
• For cantilevered overhangs >200mm: install steel support brackets screwed into the cabinet and the aluminum back sheet
Handling on site:
• Use suction cups for lifting and positioning - they grip the stone surface securely without damage
• Never drag panels across surfaces - the stone face is scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof against abrasive debris
• Remove PE protective film only after all construction and cleaning is complete

We provide complete fabrication and installation manuals, recommended tooling and adhesive specifications, and on-site technical support for qualified stone fabricators and installers.
